2016 Murano coming to Naples Nissan

The Murano has been a major hit for Nissan, bringing a sense of style and flashiness to a line-up that is more known for reliability than style. Sandwiched between the Rogue and Pathfinder, two incredibly utilitarian vehicles that put function first, the Murano has become the go-to Nissan for buyers seeking crossover versatility but with style-conscious design.

The Nissan Murano went through a redesign in 2015 that included a fully-updated interior, major styling changes, and improved fuel economy, so for 2016, the Murano only gets a minor reshuffling of options packages. The redesigned Murano for 2015 was so advanced that Nissan is currently working to bring the features from the Murano to the other vehicles across the line-up, so major changes will be held off until at least the 2017 model year.

The best news about that is that it means everything that made the Murano a hit for 2015 will continue to make it a strong option for the 2016 model year. This includes the active safety technologies available in the Technology Package, such as Blind Spot Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Warning. This package helped the Murano earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, with a rating of ‘superior’ for frontal crash protection.

The Murano also continues to have the same roomy, comfortable, high-quality interior that challenges some of the luxury brands. Zero Gravity seats are still standard, providing scientifically-developed support for the upper body, a feature that has been quite impressive. The Murano also retains the headroom that helped it gain popularity amongst some of the taller drivers.

Some buyers may wonder why the Murano has gone relatively unchanged for the new year, but all they need to do is look at the accolades the 2015 model received. This includes the title of “Number 1 Affordable Midsize SUV” and “Best 2-Row SUV for the Money” from U.S. News and World Reports, the “Driver’s Choice Award for Best Small Utility” form Motorweek, “Best Value in New/Redesigned Midsize Crossover” from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, and a “Best of What’s New” award from Popular Science. With a trophy shelf like that, there’s little reason to change a good thing so soon.
