Nissan Bluetooth Technology

Driving a car should be a safe experience not only for those in the car but for everyone on the road. New laws are popping up across the United States and in many other countries that make texting or talking on a hand-held phone while driving illegal, threatening stiff fines for anyone caught.

Benefits of Bluetooth®

The Nissan Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System allows you the versatility to make and receive wireless calls from your Nissan. Providing easier accessibility, the Nissan Bluetooth Hands-free system seamlessly links with your compatible cell phone the moment you turn on your vehicle. With the touch of a steering wheel button, you can now conveniently make and receive calls. The system will even mute the vehicle’s audio system when you’re on the phone and return it to the previous setting once you hang up. Be a safe and responsible driver. Now you can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road thanks to the built-in microphone and the link to your vehicle’s audio system. You can even pre-program your favorite numbers or for convenient, voice-activated dialing, simply speak the digits.

Are all Bluetooth phones compatible with the system?

Nissan Bluetooth Technology

Not all Bluetooth® phones are compatible. Phones must have the Bluetooth® hands-free profile and they must be listed as a Nissan-recommended phone to ensure compatibility. Nissan will continually evaluate existing and newly released Bluetooth® phones to help ensure quality operation and compatibility. If your phone is not on the Nissan-recommended phone list, limited functions may be available, but the system will not operate correctly or to its fullest capability. New mobile phones are introduced regularly and Nissan is constantly in the process of testing them for compatibility.

Which phones are compatible with my Nissan?

The Bluetooth® Information Center lists all compatible phones for your Nissan vehicles. You can begin your search using Nissan’s Bluetooth Search tool.

Don’t see your current Bluetooth phone listed as compatible?

Existing Bluetooth® phones that are not listed as compatible have not passed Nissan testing. Major calling functions like making, accepting, and ending phone calls did not function properly and/or the Bluetooth® connection was not stable. A cell phone with a Bluetooth adapter will NOT work. Only cell phones that have Bluetooth® built in and listed as a Nissan-recommended phone will operate correctly.

A subscription fee is not required to utilize the Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System. The system uses your existing carrier. The Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System is covered under the basic warranty of 36 months/36,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Some tips for using Bluetooth® in your Nissan vehicle?

  • Speak the voice commands in the correct format and sequence provided in your Bluetooth® Set-up Guide
  • Commands should be spoken clearly and at a normal pace
  • Wait for the beep before speaking a command
  • Voice feedback will be provided by the system
  • Cabin noise should always be kept to a minimum (where possible)
  • A “HELP” voice commend is available if you are not sure what to say
